Why I do this work

I’m Julia, a doctor of physical therapy, endurance coach, runner, and someone who spends a lot of time outside hiking and backpacking.

Being outside is where I feel the most like myself. It’s confidence, community, challenge, and a mental reset all in one.

It’s also what made setbacks hit harder than I expected.

I got injured while training for my first marathon and couldn’t run the race. I know how frustrating it feels to lose momentum, structure, and clarity on what to do next.

That experience shaped the way I approach this work now.

In traditional rehab, I kept seeing the same pattern: people are told to either completely stop or simply push through. Most of the time, neither approach actually helps, and the in-between is where people get stuck.

That’s where I focus.

Not doing nothing. Not pushing through blindly. But figuring out what actually makes sense for your body, your goals, and the season you’re in.

Some people I work with are navigating pain during training or building back after setbacks. Others want guidance on how to train smarter, build strength, improve endurance, and stay consistent long term.

I mostly work with runners, but also support hikers and backpackers building back or preparing for longer efforts.

Because the goal is the same: building the strength, confidence, and resilience to keep doing the things you love outside.
